JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in the February death of a child on the Westside.

Tyrone Tillman Golson, 60, was charged with murder on Wednesday.

On Feb. 18, patrol officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to an unresponsive child in the 900 block of Allison Street. The child was taken to a local hospital by the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, where she was pronounced dead by hospital staff.

When officers arrived they found the child, who is between the ages of five and 10 years old, in her bed, and they said both parents were home at the time, according to JSO.

JSO's investigation continued and the Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the cause of death to be "multiple blunt-force traumas and diphenhydramine toxicity," the agency said. Diphenhydramine is a antihistamine used to handle symptoms of allergy, fever and the common cold.

Police said Golson was already in jail on three counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, possession of photos/sexual performance by a child, soliciting a child by computer and unlawful use a two-way device at the time of his arrest.
